I live on the block with my bottle of wine
I use to be a well known man
My job was good, and my house divine
but now all I own is this bottle of wine
I love my wife and my children so dear
but now I love to drink ice cold beer
My wife took off with another man
so I see the children whenever I can
I can’t keep a job, for they take all I make
and they will put me in jail if the payment is late
So I live on the corner from day to day
watching over the children as they play
People say I’ll die before I’m forty-eight
but I politely tell them that they are too late
For I died years ago, when my family left
and now I’m like old newspaper left on a shelf
So I just go on living life the way I do
praying for the little children, and their fathers too
You can look me up about the things I’ve said
the children call me Wine-O-Ned
