I’M A TRAVELING MAN

I was on the ground
driving my car
Now I stand in this building
waiting to go afar

As the time grows near
in my wife’s eye I see a tear
She will be lonely for quite awhile
but she will soon get use to her new life style

I tell my son to take care to the home
and to help his mother to get along
To be around when she needs him the most
to help keep the pain from getting worse

Well the time has come, and I must go
how long it will take I do not know
I tell my family how much they will be missed
and I give them all one last kiss

My flight is called, and I must take my seat
thinking of the new life ahead of me
I try to look ahead and not into the past
but I can’t help but think of our every laugh

This is not the first trip, and it won’t be the last
we have traveled this road many times in the past
I try to be home as much as I can
but my family knows I’m a traveling man
