“Beast Mode”
Glancing at the chains
above my head,
wrap them around my neck
until I’m dead,
finding my lion, roar
instead,
that’s the temptation that
I fled
Keep moving forward,
tears pouring from my
eyes,
I can’t comprehend the myriad of lies
I gave you may heart and
you set it afire,
Lord help me move past this
destructive desire,
forgiveness is the key I
must acquire
I’m sorry God, I can’t do
it anymore,
my mind has packed up and I’m
at the door,
why am I prostate on this
floor,
hearing you say, “That’s
what I’m here for?”
Get up my son and march ahead,
she will need your
strength, stand by her bed,
terminal sickness, hold
her hand,
it’s okay to cry, you are
a man
Show up every day, work
through the pain,
weather the storm and the
rain,
victory in the end you
will gain,
I’m writing your story- it
must be told,
I think I’ll call it, “Beast
Mode”
